We selected five different companies to provide us quotes for design and installation of the deck. Bill Holmes of Texas Custom Decks offered us a unique design compared to the other companies, a design that was not only very functional, but also visually striking. He provided detailed drawings to scale that were easy to visualize and was quickly able to tweak the design as we decided to expand the size. Bill was very accommodating to our various requests and tons of questions. We researched the various materials and decided that Timbertech had evolved their products' long-term reliability beyond that of their competition, had an excellent color selection and complete line of decking materials including railing systems. Bill also built an "apron" around the deck that spans the distance from the ground to the height of the deck flooring. The "apron" was something that was needed and we were somewhat hesitant about how it might look, however, the manner in which this "apron" was installed actually enhances the appearance of the deck from the yard.

We love our Timbertech deck! There are no splinters - - the deck surface is extremely smooth and feels good to bare feet. Bill’s team used the hidden fastener method, so there are no nails or screws to be seen - - this is the only way to go.

Bill Holmes and his team were a dream to work with. My husband and I decided to take the plunge and make our back yard the outdoor living space we have wanted it to be for 3 years. When we came across Bill’s website and saw the wonderful comments from his past clients (some of which were in our neighborhood!) we immediately set up a consultation with him. After that first meeting, we were sold on Bill. He has the knowledge, experience and creativity that we were looking for. We had a general idea of what we wanted for our outdoor space but we really needed guidance and ideas. He brought that and then some! His warm personality and professionalism were so refreshing. He made us feel like we were his only client!

When it came to the construction of the deck/arbor, his team were at our home bright and early every morning, busy working through the hot days but stayed until the job was complete. All done on time by the way. The craftsman ship is breathtaking. Simply gorgeous!

When it was time for the landscaping/tree selection, Bill really surpassed my expectations. I’m learning more about plants and have a lot to continue to learn so I had no clue what kinds of plants or trees to put in, I just wanted them to be Texas friendly with lots of color. He took the extra time to show me his ideas from books he had and met with me at a local nursery to show me the actual plants he wanted us to consider. The overall look was just amazing in the end, he just went with it and it turned out wonderful. It really was a true transformation from a plain, boring yard to a lush, inviting, warm, comfortable “room”.

We thank Bill for his great attitude, professionalism, guidance and creativity. His honesty and good pricing was a big deal for us as we are all watching our wallets in this economy but we are so happy that we took the risk because we have added so much value to our home and have created another room for our family to be together.
